Danke schön!

Thank you to all who attended the Blessed Sacrament 2011 Oktoberfest and a bigger thanks to all our hard-working volunteers that made it such a great success! Mother Nature even provided for a great afternoon and evening. Couldn’t have been better. Festival goers enjoyed great music from Adam Hays as well as the Naughty Astronauts all evening. Plenty of brats , sausage and beer were served and we had a fair number of cars for the 1st annual car show. The lines at the kids rides were steady all evening. There were a lot of calories burned at the Euro-bungy!

Planning is already underway for Oktoberfest 2012. Rumor has it that there may be a costume contest and maybe even an Oktoberfest King and Queen will be crowned. So start planning your wardrobe now!
We want to hear from you! Share your comments, photos or videos in the reply box below or on our Facebook page on what you liked, what you’d like to see different or just a personal story from the evening.
It’s Time
The wait is over. Let the festivities begin! Tomorrow from 4:00-11:00.
Enough said.
Thanks to our neighbors in the great state of Colorado for the video.
Official Oktoberfest Hoodie
Ok… I know there are a few of you out there that still haven’t made your plans to attend Oktoberfest just for the fact you’re not sure how to handle your favorite dance moves while toting your favorite Oktoberfest beverage around. But now that they have the “Beer Pouch Hoodie” you have no more excuses. They’re even great for hauling around an extra brat! Hope to see you there…. in full Oktoberfest attire.
Need a Brat in the wurst way?
Yea, yea I know. Lame corny joke. But if it’s late in the evening and you need your bratwurst fix where are you going to turn? Apparently in 2010, 2 fellows from Germany saved the day for thousands of folk like you and me. Maybe even millions. They created the mother of all kitchen appliances called the Wursttoaster. Just as it says you can toast your brat in a specially made toaster right from the convenience of your own kitchen. And, If you were coming up short on what to get your aunt Gertrude for Christmas consider your shopping done. Enjoy and happy toasting!
Brat-a-licious
With the seasons beginning to change, these cool fall evenings have me hankering some good Oktoberfest bratwurst and German sausage. Blessed Sacraments festival is proud to say they serve brats and sausage locally processed and tastefully seasoned right here in Kansas at Stroots Meet Locker. I the past we would load up the RV and drive all the way to Cincinnati to get those mild, great tasting white brats. But then came this green, buy local initiative that’s sweeping the nation. So in an attempt to do the politically correct thing we formed a search committee and sampled and taste tested pounds and pounds of sausage and brats in order to make the best selection. Ok… maybe that’s stretching it a bit. Actually we didn’t have to look far at all. Stroots has been processing meat for 40+ years and has a great reputation here in the area so they made our choice easy. They have 2 locations. One in Goddard and the other in Mulvane and are open 8 to 5 Monday thru Friday and from 8 to Noon on Saturday. Their main business is processing venison, beef and pork for individuals but they also have a full meat case where you can get anything from individual steaks to fresh ground sausage and ground beef. So come on out to Oktoberfest and try their links out and then visit them and stock up your freezer. You won’t regret it.
Climbing The Walls?
With the crazy heat wave of 2011 finally over are you itching to get out and enjoy the cooler weather? Bring the whole family over to Oktoberfest and check out all the rides. Not only will we have a Euro-bungy but there will be a rock wall to climb. $12 get’s you a bracelet that allows you the chance to ride all of them as many times as you possibly can all evening. So come out and test your rock climbing skills. Show the kids what you’re really made of.
Need a drummer for the band? Oompah!
This 6-year-old drummer boy dances to the beat of his own drum!
Burn Calories At Oktoberfest
You ask, How is it possible that I can burn calories while partaking in great German foods and beer? I know…. it sounds to good to be true. But a little known medical fact has been revealed that you can actually burn 220 calories per hour while jumping on a Euro-bungy. CBS said it so it must be true. Yea! Who knew?! So while at Oktoberfest, jump on the Euro-bungy fitness bandwagon and get in shape the fun way.
Ya….Schuplattler
I know in the last post I suggested that we all better practice our yodeling before the festival gets here. But I’m thinking we might also want to brush up on our German dance moves. Maybe if we’re all lucky a few of the Men’s club members will entertain us with a quick demonstration of how to kick up our heels.
